BFS: LAS PELOTARIS, un cortometraje

Las Pelotaris is the story of Maite, Alicia, Rosa, Marion, Esther, and many other women who play Basque pelota, a sport that is practiced in more than 30 countries.

While there are no professional women pelotaris, and they can’t make a living playing pelota as men do, until 2014, the best athlete in a fronton was a woman.This is their story.

27 minutes, directed by Daniel Burgui Iguzkiza and Andrés Salaberri

This film will be screened at the San Francisco Basque Cultural Center’s annual Udako Besta. It is the first of two short films we will be screening right before the live pelota games in the kantxa.
